The UK reality, plainly

Nobody at home is queuing up to fix this.

The NHS generally won't revise privately-placed cosmetic implants — even when the problem is real. UK private revision quotes commonly land at £8,000–£15,000+. And if your original clinic has closed, changed hands, or gone quiet — a very British story after the last decade of chain collapses — you're left holding a problem with no owner.

That's the gap this practice exists for: specialist revision surgery, honestly diagnosed and clearly priced, four hours from home.

  • Diagnosis before price. You're told what happened — by name — before anything is quoted.
  • Lost records? Routine. Closed clinics and missing implant cards don't block revision.
  • "Not yet" is a real answer. If your implants can safely wait, you'll hear exactly that.

What brings UK patients here

Six problems, one specialist answer

Every implant problem has a name, a grade and a correction. Click any of them — or send photos and let the diagnosis come to you.

Capsular Contracture

Hardening and distortion as scar tissue tightens around an implant — the single most common reason UK patients seek revision. Graded, assessed, and corrected with capsule surgery and (usually) implant exchange.

Rupture & Ageing Implants

Silicone ruptures are often silent; many UK women carry implants well past the point they'd choose to, simply for lack of a plan. Assessment, imaging guidance and unhurried exchange.

Malposition & Bottoming Out

Implants that sit too low, too wide, or drift outward when you lie down. Pocket repair with internal suture techniques — precision work that rewards revision experience.

Rippling & Visible Edges

Wrinkling you can see or feel, usually where tissue is thin. Solved by plane change, implant choice, and often fat grafting for coverage — sometimes all three.

Wrong Size or Shape

Too big for your frame, too small to notice, or a look that was never what you asked for. Exchange sized by measurement — and by listening properly this time.

A First Surgery That Went Wrong

Asymmetry, distortion or complications after surgery at home or abroad. Rescue work is this practice's centre of gravity — brought here from across the UK and beyond.

How it works from the UK

From first message to follow-up at home

Most patients never set foot in Istanbul until the plan, the price and the surgeon are already known quantities.

1

Send your story from the UK

Photos, your original operation notes if you have them (don't worry if you don't — a UK clinic closure or an overseas clinic gone quiet is a situation we know well), and what's troubling you. Dr. Erdal reviews personally.

2

A named diagnosis, not a sales pitch

You get told what has actually happened — contracture grade, malposition pattern, rupture suspicion — and which operation fixes it. If surgery isn't needed yet, you're told that too.

3

A written, all-inclusive quote in plain terms

Surgeon, hospital, anaesthesia, implants where needed, transfers and follow-up — one figure, no extras added later. Typically a fraction of comparable London private quotes.

4

Fly out when it suits you

Direct flights from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Dublin and most UK & Irish airports — around 4 hours. A typical stay is 6–8 days.

5

Surgery by the surgeon you spoke to

Performed personally by Dr. Erdal in an accredited Istanbul hospital — revision is not delegated, ever.

6

Aftercare that follows you home

Photo reviews on WhatsApp at set intervals, direct answers to 'is this normal?', and clear guidance you can share with your GP. Distance ends at the airport; care doesn't.

A distinctly UK chapter

Still carrying PIP implants?

The PIP scandal left tens of thousands of British women with implants that should never have been sold — and guidance that stopped short of telling them what to do. If you have PIPs (or aren't sure what you have), this site has a dedicated, hype-free guide: what the UK position actually is, what age has done to those devices since, and how planned exchange on your terms compares with waiting for trouble.

Fixing surgery done abroad — honestly

Some of the revision work here corrects cheap package surgery done elsewhere — including elsewhere in Turkey. Geography wasn't the problem; the model was. Here's how to tell the difference before you book anything, anywhere.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Işık Erdal

A double board-certified plastic & reconstructive surgeon whose practice centres on the surgeries other surgeons started.

  • FACS & FEBOPRAS. American College of Surgeons fellowship and the European board carried by many UK consultants — both independently verifiable from the UK.
  • Reconstructive training. Memorial Sloan Kettering (New York) and Ghent University (Belgium) — the tissue-rescue discipline revision demands.
  • Personal, not packaged. The surgeon who assesses you operates on you. Revision is never delegated.
  • Academic record. Associate Professor; 30+ peer-reviewed publications.

Flying from anywhere in the UK or Ireland

Closer than you think, wherever you start

London & the South East

Direct flights from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton — around 3h50m. Many patients fly out after a Friday consultation call and are home within the week.

The Midlands & the North

Direct routes from Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle. No London detour needed — Istanbul is closer than most people guess.

Scotland

Direct and one-stop options from Edinburgh and Glasgow, ~4.5 hours. Winter sun during recovery week is a quietly popular bonus.

Ireland & Northern Ireland

Direct from Dublin (~4h15m) and easy connections from Belfast. Irish patients follow the identical pathway — same assessment, same aftercare.

Questions

Asked from the UK, answered plainly

Will the NHS fix my breast implant problem?
Usually not, and it helps to know the rules before you wait months to hear them. The NHS generally does not revise privately-placed cosmetic implants; exceptions are narrow (for example, confirmed rupture causing clinical problems may qualify for removal only — without replacement, and with long waits). Cosmetic correction — exchange, lift, symmetry, appearance — is treated as private whatever the cause. That reality is why so many UK patients research abroad.
My original clinic has closed or won't help. What do I do?
A distinctly common UK situation — chains have collapsed, and overseas clinics sometimes go quiet once there's a problem. You don't need their cooperation: bring whatever you have (implant card, any paperwork, even just photos over time), and assessment plus imaging fills the gaps. Not knowing your implant details does not prevent revision.
I had my first surgery abroad — maybe even in Turkey. Can you fix it?
Yes, and honestly: some of the revision work here corrects surgery done cheaply elsewhere in Turkey. Where you had the first operation matters far less than choosing the revision surgeon carefully — revision is a different discipline from first-time augmentation, and it's the discipline this practice is built on.
How do I verify a Turkish surgeon from the UK?
The same way you'd vet anyone: independent, checkable credentials. Dr. Erdal holds FACS (American College of Surgeons) and FEBOPRAS (the European board — the same EU-level certification held by many UK consultants), is an Associate Professor with 30+ peer-reviewed publications, and carries Türkiye's official health-tourism authorisation (No. 2026034015610080000444996). All verifiable before you commit to anything.
Do I need my PIP implants removed?
If you still carry PIP implants, you deserve a proper individual answer rather than a blanket one. UK guidance did not mandate routine removal for intact, symptom-free PIPs — but these implants are now old by any standard, their rupture rates were the scandal, and most women who discover they have them choose planned exchange on their own terms rather than waiting for a problem. Send what you know; you'll get a plain recommendation.
What does breast revision cost compared with UK private prices?
UK private revision commonly runs £8,000–£15,000+ depending on complexity and city. The same operation in Istanbul — surgeon, accredited hospital, anaesthesia, implants, hotel-side logistics and transfers included — is typically 50–70% less, quoted in writing after assessment. The saving is structural (costs and currency), not clinical.
